The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.
Jennifer Y. Kim
Dr. Jennifer Y. Kim has been delivering excellent dental care to her patients since 2000. She graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She completed her dental training at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco where she served as president of her class and was awarded the CDA award for Leadership Excellence. Upon graduation, she completed a one year residency at the University of California San Francisco in advanced general dentistry where she gained extensive experience doing hospital cases on children and adults as well as doing complex dentistry including implants and oral surgery. She is a member of numerous organizations including the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Contra Costa Dental Society. She is up to date with the newest advances in dental care and technology and uses materials and techniques that have the best proven track records and highest ratings by independent groups.
To give back to the community, she is a Co-Director for the Lamorinda Moms Club, which is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping new mothers in the community. She is also a donor for several organizations including the Adopt a Family program, the Breast Cancer Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her goal is to enlist other local dentists to donate their time to helping children in need with free dental care, Dr. Kim has a passion for dentistry and continuously strives to deliver the highest quality care to her patients. She is married with two children and lives in Moraga, CA.
Jean Y. Kim
Jean Y. Kim, D.D.S. graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and then graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry with her dental degree in 1998. She is originally from Washington state, but relocated to the San Francisco Bay area over 10 years ago. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society. She was given the Washington Association of Women Dentists Award in 1998 for outstanding achievement for a female dentist.
"Dr. Jean" enjoys dentistry and is particularly interested in childhood education of oral health and prevention of decay in children, as well as the role of diet and nutrition in good oral health. She strongly believes in preventative dentistry and the importance of comprehensive dental care for the overall health of a person. Dr. Jean also stays busy with her husband Byung, daughter Alessa, son Nico, and Yorkshire Terrier dog Bacio and by giving back to the community through the "Give Kids a Smile Day" foundation to help provide oral health education and screenings for children of need.
Paula Hanson
Office Manager/Registered dental hygienist
Paula graduated from Idaho State University with a BS in Dental Hygiene. She worked in a very successful dental practice in Berkeley, Ca for 30 years, initially as a dental hygienist. She became interested in the business aspect of the practice and ultimately became the office manager. She held this position for 20 years. When the doctor retired Paula decided to work closer to home and joined our practice. Paula has lived in Pleasant Hill since 1976.
Paula's clinical and business background enables her to better serve our patients. "I have always enjoyed working with people and feel I give them the benefit of my experience."
Paula's hobbies include activities with her dogs. She trains and shows them in agility. Paula has been a member of our team since 2005.
Nicole Barber
Registered Dental Assistant
Nicole Barber was born and raised in Martinez, California. She received her dental assisting degree from Western Career College and is currently attending Diablo Valley College to further her education. Nikki enjoys working with children and teaching patients lifelong good oral habits. In her spare time, she likes snowboarding, running and watching movies.
